Alan Wake 2 story and setting
Is Alan Wake Still Trapped In The Dark Place?
Although little has been confirmed about the specifics Alan Wake 2the story, the finale of the first game, as well as the subsequent DLC wrote quite a lot of checks when it comes to the plot.
At the end of the first game, Alan was trapped in “The Dark Place”, Lovecraft’s parallel dimension from which the darkness that pursued him seemed to come from. In the DLC episodes titled “The Signal” and “The Writer”, Alan was able to break free by confronting a twisted mirror version of himself.
It seems likely that Remedy will look to expand on these themes Alan Wake 2 – that’s what we definitely want to see in the sequel. From what we’ve seen in the trailers so far, Alan Wake is definitely still trapped in nightmarish Hellscape. He seems to be writing a horror story in an attempt to escape, a story that comes true in the real world.
Alan Wake 2 will take place in three main areas: Bright Falls, the primeval forest surrounding Cauldron Lake, and the run-down city of Watery. There will also be The Dark Place, presenting a changing, looped reality. In the latest trailer, Anderson and Alan Wake get together, so it seems like Alan could get out of the nightmare at some point in the game. Time will tell.
Who is Saga Anderson?
Agent Saga Anderson is an FBI agent sent to solve a series of ritual murders in Bright Falls. He then discovers a page from a horror movie, which then proceeds to describe real-world events happening in the city. This is how she learns about Alan Wake and his disappearance nearly 13 years earlier.
Anderson was the game’s co-protagonist and will be one of two playable characters. So far, it’s unclear if he has secret ties to Alan Wake, but knowing Remedy, we can bet he has secrets of his own.
Alan Wake game 2
It seems to be a fairly standard third-person shooter similar to more modern survival horror titles such as Resident Evil 2 remake. We know that guns will again be used to eliminate monstrous enemies, and the flashlight will be a key tool to keep them at bay and explore.
As mentioned previously, Alan Wake 2 will feature two playable characters in the form of Alan Wake and Saga Anderson. It’s unclear how the two characters will differ in terms of gameplay, but it’s clear that their stories are intertwined as shown in the trailers we’ve seen so far.
While we’ve seen a decent amount of gameplay so far, information on what to expect Alan Wake 2 it’s still pretty tight. However, there are a few nuggets of information that can help us piece it all together.
In a special 12th anniversary blog post Remedy announced it Alan Wake 2 would be the developer’s “first survival horror game”. This means that we will see more elements of survival in the continuation than in the original Alan Wake, which focused more on psychological horror. This certainly fits with the material we’ve seen so far, especially with the iconic vibes represented by the deer-headed men seen in the latest trailer.
