Baldur’s Gate 3 release date and platforms
Baldur’s Gate 3′s will be released on August 31, 2023 for PC, macOS and PS5. However, the game is currently in Early Access on Steam. When it comes to Xbox, things are a bit more complicated. IN statement to IGNstudio said:
“We had the Xbox version Baldur’s Gate 3 has been under development for some time. We ran into some technical issues during the development of the Xbox port that left us not feeling 100% confident in announcing it until we were sure we’d found the right solution – in particular, we weren’t able to get split-screen co-op working to the same standard on both Xbox Series X and S, which is our shipping requirement.”
This means that while Baldur’s Gate 3 is indeed scheduled for release on Xbox, the studio doesn’t announce a release date until some technical issues are resolved. We will update this page as more information is revealed.
Those who buy Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam can already enjoy the first act of the game, as well as a wide selection of character customization and dialogue options. That said, the game is still very early access. Although rare, you’ll likely encounter unfinished cutscenes and other missing features while playing.

The latest trailer for Balder’s Gate 3 was unveiled at Summer Game Fest, serving as an introduction to Jason Isaac’s character and offering a bit more insight into the dynamic between the characters, as well as some behind-the-scenes footage. While it’s not directly a teaser for the game, there’s still enough to fill the silence as we haven’t had much since February.

The story and setting of Baldur’s Gate 3
Baldur’s Gate 3 tells the story of an unfortunate adventurer from the land of Faerûn. Kidnapped by the sinister Mindflayers, our hero has been infected with the Mindflayer Tadople, a terrifying little parasite that will gradually turn him into a tentacled monster. The task is simple: find a cure.
In this mission, you will meet a team of characters who have found themselves in a similar situation and will offer to join your team and support you on your journey. In Act One, you’ll travel the Sword Coast, scouring its dangerous beaches and mysterious ruins for any leads you can find.
You’re also joined by a memorable cast of characters, each bringing their own diverse perspectives to the table. While only five party members are available in Early Access, we can expect to see more companions in the full game.

Is Baldur’s Gate 3 turn-based?
Baldur’s Gate 3 is an isometric open-world RPG where you control a hero and a supporting team of adventurers. Although visually very similar Diablo 4Play in Baldur’s Gate is divided into real-time and turn-based sections.
Most of the game takes place in real time, you explore the map, solve puzzles, find items and talk to NPCs. However, if things get violent, time stops and the characters kindly shift to act. In these moments Baldur’s Gate 3 it becomes very much like a tactical RPG where positioning as well as using skills and spells becomes essential if you want to keep your teammates alive.
As with previous Larian Studios games, Baldur’s Gate freely uses environmental effects. If you hit a puddle of oil with a fire spell, it will ignite, causing a lot of inconvenience to any poor wretch standing on it. Movement and positioning are also key. Items can be thrown and enemies can be pushed back; providing a buffet of tactical options.
Is Baldur’s Gate 3 online only?
Yes and no. Baldur’s Gate 3 will only be online when you want to play together with your friends – of course – but you don’t have to be online all the time to play single player (PC or PS5) or split screen on PS5!

Jason Isaacs has announced that he will be joining the cast as an impressive character
Revealed at Summer Game Fest, Jason Isaacs will voice Lord Envor Gortash, a menacing portrayal of villainy and one of the Baldur’s Gate 3main antagonists. As Isaacs is no stranger to villainous roles, he stated that it was a lot of fun finding new ways to make the character more unlikable as a little insight into what to expect from his character.
JK Simmons will play one of the main villains in the game
As disclosed in Steam blog post Down Baldur’s Gate 3JK Simmons will play General Ketheric Thorm, a seemingly invincible necromancer leading an army of the dead towards the city of Baldur’s Gate.
