Lenovo took the stage at MWC 2023 to showcase the latest generation of its lineup of ThinkPad laptops, as well as IdeaPad and ThinkCenter products, with eye health being of paramount importance this time around.
In addition to the fairly extensive use of low blue light technology, designed to reduce eye strain, Lenovo has also made a number of other improvements to display quality and sizes across the board.
Under the hood of many revised designs, the latest Intel and AMD processors take center stage, accompanying improvements in memory and storage.
New Lenovo 2023 devices
Overall, memory improvements have been seen across multiple devices, with the main figures coming from the ThinkPad Z13 Gen2 and Z16 Gen2 (up to 64GB) and the ThinkPad E14 Gen 5 and all-new E16 Gen1 (up to 40GB). Both of these devices have also increased capacity to a maximum of 2TB: PCIe SSD for the Z series and dual SSDs for the E series. They are also the latest devices to use Wi-Fi 6E technology, which is designed for greater speed and efficiency.
Elsewhere in the ThinkPad lineup, improvements to the displays have been made, with blue light technology present across most of the range. The X13 Gen4 and X13 Yoga Gen4 also feature 2.8K high-resolution OLED displays.
In line with its environmental commitments, Lenovo also offered the Z13 Gen2 with a new top case made partly from natural linen fiber, partly from recycled aluminum. A pair of 13-inch and 14-inch laptop sleeves were also introduced, made from vegan leather and recycled PET.
Lighter users such as students are no less satisfied as the IdeaPad Duet 3i and IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook get Wi-Fi 6 upgrades and a handy battery life boost. Moreover, the Duet 3i claims to be able to add 2 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes thanks to what Lenovo calls Rapid Charge Boost.
Finally, desktop users using ThinkCenter 22-inch and 24-inch Tiny-in-One displays will also notice some improvements in the latest 5th generation models, most notably the addition of DisplayPort and HDMI ports for connecting up to two additional external computers.
An extensive update package is expected to arrive on this year’s models, with release dates starting from April to August 2023. For details and pricing, please visit Lenovo website (opens in a new tab).
